How does Vokalu work?
Put your cursor wherever you want to type. Hold Ctrl + Win, speak, and release. Vokalu turns your voice into text and inserts it right there. You can change every shortcut in settings.
Does it work in my apps?
If you can type there, you can dictate there: messages, email, documents, browsers, code editors, and terminals. No browser extension or app-by-app integration needed.
Is it really pay as you go?
Yes. Dictate costs 1.5¢ per minute of speech. Dictate + Format costs 2¢ per minute. Add $5, $10, or $20 of prepaid credit when you need it. There’s no subscription, and recordings that produce no words are free.
What do I get for the free $1?
About 50 minutes with Dictate + Format, or about 67 minutes with Dictate. Sign up in the app to get started, with no payment card needed. One free trial per computer.
Where do my recordings and words go?
Your speech is processed online using third-party speech and AI services. Vokalu’s servers do not store your audio or transcript; usage minutes are recorded for billing. Providers have their own retention rules, including standard abuse-monitoring retention described in our privacy policy. Your dictation history stays on your PC, and Privacy mode turns that local history off.
Does it work offline or on Mac?
Vokalu needs an internet connection and currently runs on Windows 10 and 11. A Mac version is a possibility, but there’s no release date to promise.
Will tax be added?
Sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout depending on your location. You’ll see the total before you pay.
What if I need a refund?
Request a refund of unused purchased credit within three days (72 hours) of purchase by emailing suolaraketti@proton.me from your account email with the purchase reference. Used credit and free promotional credit are not refundable under this policy. Mandatory consumer rights still apply.
Does prepaid credit expire?
Purchased credit expires 12 months after its payment date, except where applicable law prohibits expiry or requires a longer period. Each top-up has its own validity period; a new purchase does not extend earlier credit.
