1. About Vokalu
Vokalu converts speech into text on Windows and can format or rewrite text at your request. The hosted service needs an internet connection and third-party processing. These proposed terms cover the website, Windows app, and hosted features. The privacy policy explains how associated information is handled. 2. Your account and use of the app
Use an email address you control, keep sign-in links and verification codes private, and let us know if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. If you use Vokalu for an organization, make sure you have permission to submit that organization’s information for online processing.
Subject to applicable terms, Vokalu gives you permission to install and use the app for its intended purpose. This does not transfer ownership of the app, brand, or other Vokalu materials to you.
Vokalu is operated by Dennis Kaczmarowski, based in Washington, United States. Vokalu does not set a separate general minimum age in these terms. If you are under 18, we encourage you to review the service and these terms with a parent or guardian and obtain their consent. Where applicable law requires parental consent or permission to enter into an agreement or process personal information, that permission is required, not optional.
3. Your words and AI-generated results
You retain your rights in the content you submit. To fulfill a request, Vokalu and its service providers need permission to process your speech, selected text, and relevant request context. That permission is for operating the requested features and does not transfer ownership of your content.
Transcription and formatting can make mistakes, omit words, or change meaning. Review important text before sending, publishing, or relying on it. Command Mode may replace selected text, and the “press enter” command may submit a message in the active app. Check where your cursor is before dictating. Vokalu is not a substitute for professional judgment.
4. Pricing and prepaid credit
Dictate is priced at $0.015 per minute of talking. Dictate + Format is priced at $0.02 per minute. Charges are based on recorded usage duration, including fractions of a minute. Recordings that produce no words are free. The app shows usage receipts and your balance.
Credit is prepaid, with top-ups of $5, $10, or $20. Vokalu is not a recurring subscription. Applicable tax or VAT may be added at checkout, and payment processing is handled by Stripe. The sign-up offer provides $1 of free credit, limited to one trial per computer. Trial credit is promotional and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Purchased credit expires 12 months after the payment date for that purchase, except where applicable law prohibits expiration or requires a longer validity period. Each purchase has its own validity period; a later top-up does not reset an earlier purchase’s payment date. Expiry conditions must be disclosed before purchase. Price changes will be communicated before they apply to future usage; past usage is not repriced.
5. Refunds and billing problems
You may request a refund of the unused portion of purchased credit within three days (72 hours) of that purchase. Credit already used for dictation or formatting is not refundable under this policy. Free trial or promotional credit has no cash refund value. The refund cannot exceed the unused paid amount attributable to the purchase being refunded.
Send your request from your account email to suolaraketti@proton.me, including the purchase reference. Timeliness is measured when you send the request, not when support processes it. Once verified, eligible refunds are returned to the original payment method and the corresponding credit is removed from your account. Do not send full card details. If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact us even if the refund window has passed. Mandatory cancellation, refund, and consumer rights under applicable law are preserved.
6. Responsible use
Use Vokalu only with content you have permission to process. Do not use it to unlawfully record others, infringe another person’s rights, circumvent account or billing controls, abuse the free trial, introduce malicious software, or disrupt the service. Obtain any notice or consent required before processing someone else’s speech or confidential information.
7. Availability and account restrictions
Features may change, and interruptions can occur because of network, maintenance, or service-provider issues. We may restrict access where necessary to investigate misuse, respond to a security issue, or comply with law. Where practical, we will explain the restriction and provide a contact route. You may stop using the app at any time and request account closure by email. Account closure does not by itself resolve an outstanding billing dispute or erase records that must legally be kept.
8. Limitations and your legal rights
We do not promise error-free output, uninterrupted availability, or compatibility with every configuration. You should keep copies of important work and review dictated content before use. Nothing in these terms removes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, or excludes liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
These terms are governed by the laws of Washington State, United States, except where mandatory laws in your place of residence provide protections that cannot be waived. This choice of law does not remove those protections or any right to bring a claim in a court available to you under mandatory law.
9. Updates and questions
